Question: Can you get a free domain name?
In response to the question "Can you get a free domain name"
the answer is yes and no. For anyone who doesn't know, a domain
name is the name that you have for your website.
If you rely on free webhosting, you will probably have a domain
name that reflects the hosting service (for example www.yourname.hostsite.com).
A lot of the time what happens with the website is that even though
your website is on the Internet, it is not submitted to any of the
search engines, nor is it easy for anybody to find.
The only way for someone to find your site would be in the very
unlikely event that they happened to type your website URL in their
box at the top of the screen. This means it is very bad for business
if you have if you have free webhosting.
There are some alternatives to fixing this. For a minimal fee of
about $8 per month a lot of services can be found to purchase a
domain name. All you have to do is do a Google search, and you will
find plenty.
This is the best way to do in my opinion, so long as you are willing
to pay the money, which totals to be a little under $100 per year.
In this way, you can have a .com, .net, .org, et cedera domain name
Another way is www.dot.tk. This website can get you a free domain
name which will look like www.yourname.tk. In order to use this
you must already have a website being hosted. .Tk gives you a domain
name, not a hosting service. It is completely free to sign up for.
With this, if anyone types in www.yourname.tk, the website will
be referred after 15 seconds to your hosted site (i.e. www.yourname.hostsite.com).
The only catch to this is that you must have a certain number of
hits (visitors) within the first 90 days you use the service.
This means you have to make your site noticable in order to keep
it. This is the second best way for a domain name that I know of.
I hope this article has been helpful to you. Happy web posting!
